Hey there, readers!  Let me give you the rundown on me and this blog 'o mine.

I'm Kelly, 32 years old, Connecticut native and western New York resident.  I've been married 8 wonderful years, and I have a completely-freaking-adorable 4-year-old son (Small Fry) and an equally-freaking-adorable 1-year-old son (Tater Tot).  They already seem to have an acute appreciation for the complete unabridged works of Eric Carle, so I must be doing something right.  I'm a stay at home mom to those two ruffians, and my reading life is largely defined by their chaos. :)

I started this blog in August 2012 after a long internet blogging history.  From LiveJournal, to MySpace, to Blogger, and Wordpress (and now back to Blogger), I've been around.  However, all of my past blogs have been personal/life blogs, with book posts thrown in.  I started to realize I was pretty tired of talking about myself all the time (spoiler: my life is not that captivating).  Book posts were my favorites to write, and hence, The Well-Read Redhead.

All subject matter around here was pretty much 100% book related, until March 2015, when I started to train for the Mystic Half Marathon.  I had just completed my first half in September 2014, and was starting to take running a bit more seriously.  So, I started a weekly Sunday feature called The Well-Read Runner to chronicle my training efforts.

Once the Mystic Half was over, I realized I kinda liked writing about running.  And I still liked writing about reading.  So I have kept the Well-Read Runner feature (not only on Sundays anymore), and still talk about books, too.

I seem to be cultivating an interesting blog niche for myself, with running and reading (of course, not to be outdone by the queen of that niche, Tara at Running n Reading), but other than my family, they are the biggest things in my life.  So I hope you enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoy sharing them.  :)

  1. Nice to meet you, fellow book lover and red head. I found you through "Joy's Book Blog" and BBAW. Welcome to book blogging! I'm a huge fan of "The Time Traveler's Wife" and had to hop over and see your other posts. I've promised my husband less computer time too, but we'll see...

    1. Thanks, nice to "meet" you as well! I found your blog via Joy too (when she mentioned you on appreciation day). Looking forward to reading through more of your posts!

  2. Kelly! If you're into these things, I've nominated you for a Sunshine Award! I love your blog. You can see your nomination on my blog, http://julieschicklit.com/2013/03/18/sunshine-award/

  3. You sound pretty awesome, just saying. I had dreams of living in NYC, too, but being from Canada with absolutely no journalism connections there and with a boyfriend whose roots are planted firmly in Calgary, I don't really see that dream being realized anytime soon. Or ever.
I think I've only ever read maybe three BSC books in my life. I used to obsessed with Sweet Valley Kids and The Magic Tree House when I was in elementary. The library couldn't keep up with those books fast enough for me.
I know what you mean by university taking up all your time. I went from reading 6-8 books a month all 12 years of public school to maybe scraping by 1-2 books a month in university. It was a real shocker. Thankfully I'll be done school in December, leaving me plenty more time to read for fun. Yipee.
And now I'm rambling. So yes. Great blog and you've gained a new follower! :)

    1. Thank you so much! I love me some new followers! :) Good luck with the last part of school. I feel like my reading life was so liberated after I finished!!

  4. I've really enjoyed interacting with you both through our penpal exchange and on your blog, so I've nominated you for the Shine On award. Thanks for being so awesome :)

  5. Thanks for entering my give away :)
